Doctors are urging people across North East Hampshire and Farnham to be one step ahead this winter by thinking about which health service they might need to treat a potential illness or injury.
From the local pharmacy right the way through to the emergency department at hospital, there is a wide range of services that can help.
Dr Peter Bibawy, Clinical Chair of NHS North East Hampshire and Farnham Clinical Commissioning Group, said: “As we head into winter and towards the Christmas and New Year period, the risk of illness rises because of colds, flu and other viruses becoming more widespread.
“Wet or freezing weather can make for slippery conditions and lead to more injuries too.
“Knowing which service to turn to is important as it gets us to the right treatment and advice without delay.”
Pharmacists are highly-trained medical professionals who can offer advice and guidance for many common ailments, without the need for an appointment.
NHS111 offers an urgent service for anybody needing treatment but unsure where to go for help or advice.
GP practices now provide extended access appointments in the evenings and at weekends and many offer same-day urgent appointments. Most surgeries also now offer their patients electronic consultations too.
Please only dial 999 or attend the hospital emergency department in a genuine emergency.
