Keeping cool in hot weather

It's going to be hot and sunny this August Bank Holiday weekend.

It's vitally important to take good care during hot weather, both in terms of heat exhaustion and dehydration and also in respect of the strong sunshine and sunburn.

There are many ways of coping, including keeping well hydrated (with water and other soft drinks) and covered up, knowing how to keep your home cool, and generally slowing down.

Younger and older people are more vulnerable to high temperatures and strong sunshine, so please look out for any young or old family members, any elderly neighbours, and anyone you care for.

As a general rule, take the same sun and heat precautions you would if you were on holiday in a hot and sunny destination - as that's what it will be like here!
