Further Covid-19 Vaccination sites open in North East Hampshire

Two new Covid-19 vaccination sites have begun vaccinating residents in North East Hampshire.

The services have been launched at Princes Hall in Aldershot and at Southwood Surgery in Farnborough.

Residents receiving the vaccine are in the 80 and over age group, as they are at greatest risk of harm from the virus. They have all been contacted by their GP practices in recent days to arrange their appointments. Healthcare staff are also part of the first groups to receive the vaccine at the sites.

Dr Louise Payne, GP and PCN Clinical Director in Aldershot said, "It is wonderful to be able to begin the vaccination programme in Aldershot today. Everyone involved in the project has worked tirelessly over the last few weeks to get the sites up and running and we are proud to play a part in protecting our residents and frontline health care staff."

Dr Alice Earl, GP and Joint PCN Clinical Director for Farnborough said, “We are delighted to start welcoming people for vaccinations at Southwood Surgery in Farnborough. Bringing these sites together has been a true collaborative effort amongst the Primary Care teams and our joint management team across Rushmoor.

“I would like to thank everyone involved for their commitment and going above and beyond to both launching the sites and delivering the vaccinations over the coming weeks.”

Dr Nick Hughes, GP and Joint Primary Care Network Clinical Director for Farnborough added: “It has been brilliant to hear how grateful local people are to be having their vaccinations, and to be part of the fight back against the pandemic. We have also vaccinated our volunteers who are now part of our frontline healthcare worker team, they weren’t expecting a vaccination and are a part of the team helping to protect local people. We would like to thank everyone who has offered their time to help us provide this site for the local community”.

It is important for people to know that the vaccination programme will last many months – people should not contact NHS services to request the vaccine, everyone will be contacted directly when they are eligible to have the jab.

Whilst the vaccination programme is being rolled out, it is really important for people to follow the government guidance to stay at home, and continue to the Hands, Face, Space infection control guidelines.

Across Frimley Health and Care, a number of vaccination services have launched, including in Farnham (Surrey), Camberley, Slough, Yateley, Bracknell, Windsor and Maidenhead.
